What’s Unique About FreshlyFit?
FreshlyFit isn’t a weight-loss company per se, but it certainly has everything you need to get the job done well. That’s because its keto- and paleo-inspired meals are high in protein and low in calories and carbs. While carbohydrates certainly don’t have to be the enemy of those looking to lose weight, maintaining a calorie deficit is much easier with low-calorie, high-protein diets, especially given that protein correlates strongly with feelings of satiety.
FreshlyFit’s meals are also primarily made from whole foods and plenty of vegetables, which means lots of micronutrients to keep you healthy while losing weight. The extra protein will also help you recover from physical activity, so it’s a good match for exercise-assisted weight loss. There are typically only a few vegetarian or vegan meals, but keto and paleo dieters will find plenty of options here. Many of the meals are also free of gluten, soy and dairy.
How it Works
Step 1: Getting started with FreshlyFit is easy: just sign up on the website with your email address and zipcode. You’ll then choose what meals you’d like for your first weekly delivery, on which day of the week you’d like your meals to be delivered, and confirm by entering your payment and delivery details.
Step 2: You’ll continue receiving weekly deliveries based on your plan, although you can skip one or more weeks at any time. Each meal can be refrigerated for 4 to 5 days, or frozen for a much longer period of time.
Step 3: As already mentioned, FreshlyFit isn’t a weight-loss program per se, so you’ll need to use a third-party application to track your calories or macronutrients. However, you’ll find all the information you need to do so on the website and in the box. Most meals are high in protein and low in calories, which is a good match for maintaining a calorie deficit and losing weight.
What You’ll Eat
FreshlyFit includes a variety of meals to choose from, with options for keto and paleo diets, those with gluten, soy or dairy intolerances or sensitivities, and some vegan and vegetarian options. All of the meat is sourced in the United States and approved by the USDA, as are most of the vegetables. All of the dishes are rich in vegetables (and therefore micronutrients).
FreshlyFit’s largest weekly order of 12 meals would enable you to order lunch and dinner for 6 days out of the week. As there are only 15 or so meal options, depending on your dietary requirements, you may have to double-up several times.
A sample Paleo diet might look like this:
Lunch: Paleo Pork Chop: carrots, butternut squash, cabbage, brussel sprouts, beets and pork chops. 530 calories, 26g of carbs, 36g of fat, 28g of protein.
Dinner: Sausage & Peppers: cauliflower, bell pepper, honey, marinara, italian sausage, and tomatoes. 500 calories, 29g of carbs, 33g of fat, 21g of protein.
The Freshly app is free, and can be used to manage your subscription, choose your meals, and get nutritional information. It also syncs with Apple Health, which means you can easily use it in conjunction with a variety of other weight-loss apps.
Choose from 4 meal plans (4, 6, 10 or 12 meals per week), with the least expensive plan per meal being the 12-meal option. A small fee may be added for shipping depending on your region, as well as sales tax. Weekly orders can be skipped or canceled anytime before the weekly deadline. Some meals, called Select Meals, are available at a premium.
Help & Support
If you need to contact FreshlyFit for help, you can do so by online chat or by submitting a ticket. However, we will stress again that FreshlyFit is not a weight-loss service, so if you’re looking for a coach or weight-loss advice, you’ll need to seek it out from a third party. FreshlyFit’s support can be contacted for questions regarding your order, subscription, and the meals (including nutritional information and sourcing).
Here’s the Skinny
FreshlyFit is a meal subscription service designed for active and health-conscious individuals. Its meals are primarily low in carbs and calories, and high in protein, with plenty of vegetables. Pricing is flexible, and you can skip or cancel weeks as needed. If you have an iPhone, the Apple app can also sync with Alle Health.
By combining FreshlyFit with a third-party weight-loss app, and using the nutritional information provided with each meal, it can be a healthy part of a weight-loss approach, especially when paired with exercise.
