Therapist/Counselor Screening Process

Thriveworks hires highly trained therapists and clinicians and aims to provide a working environment where they can flourish—so you know you’re in good hands.

All mental health professionals are fully qualified and/or licensed. Licensed practitioners are asked to disclose any involvement in investigations, complaints, or criminal/civil procedures, and Master’s-level clinicians and therapists are required to agree to a background check.

Get help with:

  • Anger management
  • Relationships
  • Trauma
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Career
  • Addiction
  • Grief

Many clinics also offer specialist services such as:

  • Child and adolescent therapy
  • Couples therapy
  • Life coaching

Thriveworks is a clinician-run company made up of franchises. So the specific expertise of therapists in each area can differ. For example, some clinics state they offer career counseling or family therapy services whereas, in other offices, therapists may specialize in fields like addiction or life coaching.

Some locations offer Telehealth psychiatric services, too, for help with medication management or psychiatric evaluations. For many people, receiving therapeutic and psychiatric services in one place can make life a lot easier.

Types of sessions available:

  • Online (virtual conference)
  • Phonecall
  • Face-to-face (not psychiatric services)

Pricing & Special Offers

You’ll be pleased to know that many Thriveworks therapists are connected with major insurance policies, e.g., Multiplan and United Healthcare. When booking online, you can see which therapists in your area accept insurance plans.

Thriveworks’ pricing can be broken down into session and enrollments costs:

Session cost

The cost of a therapy session varies between clinics, but the pricing brackets with or without insurance are provided below. With insurance, you could pay a budget-friendly $15 a session. Without it, you may well be looking at a higher bill, but Thriveworks strives to make self-pay options affordable too.

You can explore prices for individual therapists on the web pages for each local office—everything is very transparent. You can cancel a session up to 23.5 hours beforehand, but like most counseling practices, if you don’t show or fail to cancel in time, you will be charged.

Enrollment fees

If affordability is high on your list of requirements, it’s worth noting that Thriveworks has an enrollment-based model of pricing. So each month, you might pay a fee to receive additional benefits that insurance doesn’t cover. If you sign up for enrollment, you can cancel any time.

For many people, the enrollment benefits, such as email and phone advice between sessions, and a 24hr ‘Ask a Coach’ Q&A are well worth the additional cost.

Enrollment fees vary depending on where you are. Thriveworks states on its website that enrollment is usually $99 for the first month and then $10 a month ongoing.

Browsing through the different local offices, you’ll see a $39/month enrollment fee is very common. In some places, like Las Vegas, there is no cost for enrollment. Whereas in Philadelphia, you pay $99 the first month, then $29 a month thereafter—a bit of a geographical lucky dip!

What’s Unique About Thriveworks?

What sets Thriveworks apart is its dedication to customer service.

Shocked by the difficulty of accessing therapy in the US, Dr. Anthony Centore, Thriveworks’ Founder, set out on a mission to provide high-quality therapy with first-grade customer service to match. You can expect an easy and efficient booking experience from the start.

Thriveworks also takes a holistic approach to therapy. The enrollment model used, although incurring an extra cost, enables Thriveworks to offer a truly comprehensive therapeutic experience. Enrollment grants you access to invaluable sources of information, support, and advice in between sessions that could ultimately enhance your therapy.

What Users Are Saying About Thriveworks

Thriveworks has dozens of glowing client testimonials on its website:

“Every member of staff was very kind and genuine. I came in with a variety of needs that they treated kindly and quickly. The quality of service was great. And they quickly made time to see me as consistently as I wanted.”

“6 months in and still coming. Have been helped immensely. Safety, convenience, compassion, and (!) late hours really helped me commit.”

“I love Thrive. I lost myself for a while, but I’m starting to make good progress. I have learned a lot about myself in the last few weeks. I like what I see and feel.”

“Thrive helped me realize that I do believe people can change. I’m not the person I was three months ago, broken and fearful. I’m healthy and happy and, for the first time being kind to myself. Thank you for giving me my life back.”

Scheduling live chats/video chats

If you want to start therapy ASAP, you’re in luck. Thriveworks therapy sessions can usually be arranged within 24 hours, and if you’ve ever sat on a therapy waiting list, you’ll know that’s very speedy.

To book an appointment, you can use the super-simple online booking system or call the office nearest to you. Offices are normally open from 7.30 am to 9 pm, Monday to Friday, but this varies. Customer Support

Thriveworks offers efficient centralized booking services, saving you the hassle of tracking down a busy therapist to sort out your appointments.

The company hires HIPAA-compliant medical receptionists, and all calls are answered in less than a minute. The contact center has online chat and queue callback functions, too, making it that much easier for you to speak to someone.

Bottom Line

Therapy can be a costly investment, both in time and money, and it’s important you find the right fit. Thriveworks is a trustworthy provider that’s worth considering, offering high-quality therapy both online and in person.

A variety of licensed clinicians and therapists are available, so you can get the support you need to tackle a variety of issues. Although the enrollment fee adds extra cost (which varies by location), the benefits you get, such as between-session advice, are pretty significant.

Customer service is clearly a number one priority with Thriveworks, and it’s reassuring to know you can speak to someone any day of the week if you have questions. If you’re ready to start therapy right now, chances are you could be on the books for an appointment in the next 24 hours.
