Features and Add-ons

Despite its simplicity in form, Uzio is a feature-rich platform. On top of the many benefits and compliance functions (see below), the platform covers all the basics of payroll, including salary adjustments, absence management, wage garnishment, employee onboarding and offboarding, benefits decision support, and more. There are a few key features that also help Uzio stand out, explored below.

Centralized hub. Payroll can be complicated, and traditional payroll software hasn’t always done the best job of streamlining things. Fortunately, unwieldy spreadsheets have gone the way of the dinosaur, and modern solutions like Uzio offer users a much clearer picture of payroll operations.

Uzio’s centralized hub enables users to access information based on their user roles, and includes tools for taxes, benefits, and compliance (see below). The platform has been praised for its ease of setup and use.

Real-time updates. Changes to information in the Uzio system, including compensation, are reflected immediately downstream and in real-time. Rather than having to make modifications manually across spreadsheets or documents, you can change the information at the source. This includes creating multiple payment conditions for any number of customers.

Automatic synchronization with the rest of the Uzio HR suite is one of the main advantages of Uzio Payroll, although it is also available as a stand-alone software. However, the benefits of opting for the platform as a whole are significant. Uzio Payroll can automatically sync with the rest of HR data, for simpler payroll processing.

Tax Compliance

Uzio tax administration. Uzio features built-in tax filing: the company’s own administrators will handle filing your state and federal taxes, each time you process payroll, and quarterly and yearly as required.

Benefits. Uzio supports a wide range of benefits that can be added on a per-employee or company-wide basis, and are then automatically deducted from payroll, including medical, dental, HSA, FMLA, Life Insurance, COBRA, and more. Unsurprising, given that the same company also has Benefits Broker software. You can run reports for employee benefits, and ensure elections match billing statements.

Year-End Reporting. Keeping track of I-9s, W-2s and 1099s can be burdensome on its own, and even more so in the context of payroll. Uzio’s year-end reporting module converts these forms for electronic filing, and issues pay stubs that will require little to no editing on your part, as well as providing comprehensive year-end reporting.

Payment Options

Uzio enables you to connect a bank account to the software for direct deposit payments. It does not currently allow you to print checks or pay via prepaid cards. Employees can, however, access their pay stubs and other information easily from the employee dashboard.

Usability

As already mentioned, Uzio has been praised by users for its ease of use. The company has done a good job of balancing functionality and simplicity, with the most important information displayed prominently. Everything is grouped into tabs, tables can be sorted and filtered, and common operations—like managing employees and benefits—are all managed in one place.

The “Action Needed” frame in the Dashboard tab is particularly useful, giving you an overview of your upcoming, urgent, and critical tasks to be executed. Directly beneath, you’ll find a list of reports. Other tabs give you access to payroll history, federal and state taxation information, your company bank accounts, earnings, deductions, contributions, and payroll calendar.

The whole suite is cloud-based and can be accessed from any modern browser. There’s also a well-rated complimentary mobile app for employees with access to benefits.

Conclusion

Uzio offers a simplified approach to Payroll as part of its HR software suite. It includes advanced tax filing and compliance features, among other useful features. The dashboard is easy to navigate, displaying important and critical information in a helpful manner. Likewise, customers have praised the software for its easy setup and use, as well as a responsive and knowledgeable customer service team.
