Have had the worst experience
Have had the worst experience, 1 of the service was considered as part of service originally then mentioned not covered. Another service this year, took 2 months to have someone show up then to find out the service was not covered. Now i just called for another claim, was on hold for 5 minutes and decided i am done and doing a public service for you all with this review.

Well, what is covered in my plan?
Purchased ARW home warranty about 8 months ago and then three months ago my 40 gallon water heater sprung a leak. I called and spoke to the representative and after about 10 minutes reviewing my policy he told me I was not covered for water heater damage. Fine, purchased one and installed it with a friend for about $575.00. Last week my central air conditioning started producing an excessive amount of condensation to the point that I placed the small condensation hose into a 5 gallon plastic bottle and the bottle filled up after 30 minutes. Previously the evaporation rate was less than a pint for a week of usage. Obviously the evaporation pan became damaged or maybe some internal filter became clogged but whatever the reason when I called ARW July 18th I went through the usual process where the representative looks up your account to identify you. He came back to the phone and again he had that same line, "I'm sorry, that's not covered in your plan." Well I guess the question that begs to be answered is, What is covered in my plan? ARW was quick to take my monthly payments for 8 months but both times when a problem arose I was told I was not covered for that specific item.

American Residential Warranty at a Glance

How to Get Started with American Residential Warranty

You can sign up for an ARW home warranty plan by filling out a form online. You’ll be asked to provide some basic details, including your name, email address, phone number, and zip code. You’ll then be given a list of quotes, and you can select the plan that best suits your needs.

When signing up for a plan, you’ll need to provide information about the appliances you want covered, such as the make, model, and age of the appliance. If you have any difficulties signing up for a plan online, you can contact a customer service representative to help you through the process.

To cancel your plan, you’ll need to send a written notice to the company’s headquarters. You’ll get a full refund if you cancel within 30 days, and otherwise you’ll receive a prorated refund equal to the remaining length of coverage.

Plan Exclusions

ARW doesn’t cover items that are damaged due to misuse or abuse. For example, if your microwave breaks because you place something in there that shouldn’t go in there, ARW won’t cover the damage.

ARW also only offers coverage for single-family residential homes. If the home is used for commercial purposes (i.e., if it’s a daycare or church), then ARW won’t cover you.

How to file a claim with ARW

One of the downsides to ARW is that claims can’t be filed online. To file a claim, you’ll need to call the specific number dedicated to your plan or state.

  • (877) 637-7890: Claim line for all states except California, Iowa, Texas, and Virginia
  • (800) 863-8600: Claim number for the above-excluded states
  • (844) 885-8621: Number for Ultimate Electronics Protection

Once you call the number, you’ll be assigned a service provider and ARW will give you their contact info. You can then call the service provider to schedule your diagnostic and repair service.

ARW responds to claims within 36 hours, and it’ll try to get a technician to your home within 48 hours. If the repair is deemed an emergency, it’ll try to shorten the response and repair time to 24 hours.

While ARW doesn’t stipulate the number of claims you can file, it has a payout cap of $2,500 per item per year.

Is ARW Legit?

ARW has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. It’s also verified on Trust Pilot and has a 3.8/5.0 rating, with over 600 reviews.

What’s Unique About ARW?

ARW is unique in that it lets you choose your own contractor or technician for repairs if you don’t want to use an ARW-registered contractor. Before completing repairs, the contractor just needs to call ARW to be authorized. This way, you’ll only be responsible for the service fee.

ARW also guarantees 30 days on labor and 60 days on parts. If the repair fails within this period, the company will send a technician over to fix it, free of charge.

Mobile App

ARW does not offer a mobile app.

Help and Support

In addition to 24/7 claims support, ARW also offers customer support via phone. Customer service can be reached  at (800) 910-8538 Monday to Thursday 8:30 am to 7 pm EST, Friday 8:30 am to 4 pm EST, and Saturday 9 am to 6 pm EST.

For billing inquiries, call (877) 752-6796, Monday to Thursday 8:30 am to 7 pm EST, Friday 8:30 am to 4 pm EST, or Saturday 9 am to 6 pm EST.

If you don’t get through to billing or customer service, you can expect to hear back within a few hours or by the next day, depending on when you call. ARW also has a contact form on its website and a robust FAQs page.

Please don't use this company..
Based on our experience with this company, I couldn’t recommend them less. When we purchased our warranty, the salesperson verbally assured us that it covered our A/C up to a total replacement. However, a year later when we made our first A/C claim, we were surprised to learn that it was only covered up to around $600, and they would only pay a portion. To cut our losses, we decided to get the claim paid for and then cancel the warranty. But after we got the work done and submitted the paperwork, the whole payment was denied. I spent almost three hours between two different calls trying to confirm that they weren't paying it. Throughout the process, we were repeatedly told that the situation was being "escalated," yet they weren't processing our claim in a timely manner. Moreover, a customer service representative later informed us that there were no "escalations" on our account, and that they were going to escalate our inquiry into why our claim had been denied after it had already been approved. When we called back, they seemed to be unaware of this "escalation." Every time we called, we had to explain the whole situation multiple times as we were passed between the claims and customer service departments. Ultimately, we have decided to cancel our warranty. However, we can only do so tomorrow, as the customer service department was closed by the time I got off hold with claims. If you are reading reviews about them, be sure to sort them by recent to get a better picture of what customers really think. They do not list their customer service times or phone number on their website. Their customer service hours are 9am-5pm Eastern, and their number is 1-599-556-0467.
