Features and Add-ons

Invoicing tools are usually simple in that they offer a hassle-free way to send invoices and get paid—nothing more and nothing less. Bill.com, however, is an accounting solution that does do more. Besides enabling you to send invoices and clear payments, it also enables you to manage cash flows and automate payment approvals. Here are a few of its best features.

A/P Automation

Bill.com lets you pay vendors faster without you having to approve and process each invoice manually. It does all the legwork, from collecting and validating invoices to approving them and processing payments. For vendors, getting paid is as easy as mailing an invoice to your inbox and filing in the necessary payment details.

Invoice Templates

The platform comes with a default invoicing template to help you get paid faster. If you’d like to add additional fields or information, you can easily do so using the editor. You can also create your own templates for faster invoicing.

Payment Processing

Processing payments using Bill.com is a breeze. You can use a credit card, debit card, or check to make payments, or you can wire money directly to your vendor’s bank account. Bill.com enables you to pay vendors without additional transaction fees, making it the preferred payment system for many organizations.

Intelligent Virtual Assistant

Bill.com’s Intelligent Virtual Assistant automates your accounting tasks so you don’t have to process each invoice manually. Everything from payment approval to payment processing can be set up to work automatically. There’s also an intelligent click-and-capture function that lets you capture invoices quickly and easily.

Third-party Integrations

Bill.com has partnered with various top accounting software companies, including Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle Netsuite, Tallie, Sage Intacct, Expensify, Quickbooks, and Xero. You can seamlessly import and export data between these services and Bill.com. You are also given access to Bill.com’s API, enabling even more custom integrations.

Payment Options

Bill.com enables you to pay vendors via credit card, debit card, check, international wire transfers, and ACH. The process is simple enough: all you need to do is upload an invoice from a vendor or have them email it to your Bill.com inbox.

Payments can be single, bulk, or recurring. Once you approve the payment, the money reaches the vendor using your preferred payment method. Bill.com automatically syncs your payments with your accounting system, so you save precious time by paying vendors faster.

With the Essential Plan, users gain access to one product that handles both accounts payable and accounts receivable. You can manually import and export CSV files to and from your accounting software. This plan includes unlimited document storage, invoice data capture, centralized inbox, and national and international wire transfers.

With the Team Plan, users get one product for handling both accounts payable and accounts receivable, along with all the features included in the Essential Plan. They also get the added functionality of integration with Xero, QuickBooks Pro/Premier, and QuickBooks Online, so they don’t have to manually import or export CSVs.

With the Corporate Plan, users get two separate products for managing accounts payable and accounts receivable and all the features included in the Essentials Plan and the Team Plan.

With the Enterprise Plan, users receive access to two separate products for handling accounts payable and accounts receivable, along with all the features included in the Essential, Team, and Corporate Plans. They also get additional enterprise-level features like single sign-on, premium support, and access to the Bill.com API.

Usability

Bill.com’s UI is quite familiar: a primary dashboard offering an overview of your tasks and tab-based navigation with links to various app sections. The interface is simple enough for those coming from any other accounting software. However, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the sheer number of options if all you want is a simple invoicing tool.

However, for those looking for financial management features beyond invoicing, Bill.com is the perfect solution. One of the best things about this platform is that you can automate everything. You can set up custom workflows to auto-approve invoices and process payments with as little or as much oversight as you desire. This saves businesses a great deal of time and helps vendors get paid faster.

Conclusion

While a bit of overkill for invoicing alone, Bill.com is an all-around finance management solution that can greatly boost productivity for your business’s accounting department.

With a host of third-party integrations to choose from and artificial intelligence for workflow automation, it can transform the way that you handle payments at your organization.

I had an issue with with a closed bank acct I forgot to update( my bad) and I notified customer service via text and Kate (team 2) had the issue resolved in a matter of a few hrs and during a holiday! I was very impressed with their rapid response time and funds redirected into my new acct. I’ve been doing business with Bill for yrs now and things have gone pretty smoothly. I know what to expect from their terms and conditions, fees, ect. Pretty straight forward.

My newest client sent me to Bill.com to…
My newest client sent me to Bill.com to sign up for receiving my payments through them. Somehow my bank account number didn't go through because either I or their system didn't recognize the "0" at the beginning of my account number. I'm giving them a five because of how they handled my issue. I was curious to see some other reviews and my experience wasn't at all like what I read. When I called support they escalated me to a second tier support agent, where Cedrick clarified my issue and gave me a couple directions this could go, so I took his offer to call me back that day with their solution, and within 10 minutes I received the callback, and problem solved to my satisfaction.

We use Bill as our 3-party payment…
We use Bill as our 3-party payment processor, both domestically and internationally. We pay our vendors via e-payments, checks, and wires. The online portal is easy to use. The cost seems reasonable. If we have a question or concern, Bill support has been efficient and effective. We've dabbled in Spend & Expense but we've not used Accounts Receivable.
