How Does SteadyMD Work?
SteadyMD is not your typical telehealth service. In fact, it’s one of the most personal experiences you’ll find online today. That’s because SteadyMD offers you continuous care with the same doctor every time. You get paired with a doctor, and that doctor remains with you throughout your subscription period. Here’s how it works:
Tell SteadyMD a little bit about what you’re looking for, including fitness goals, family history, lifestyle, typical diet, and medical conditions.
Get paired with a doctor
SteadyMD will then pair you up with a doctor that fits your needs, including your personal interests, medical requirements, and goals. This is an added level of attention that not all telehealth services provide. So, if you’re looking for more personalized medical services, SteadyMD is a good choice.
Have your first appointment
During this initial consultation, your doctor will get to know you and your medical situation. This appointment usually takes about an hour. They’ll ask you questions about your medical history, any family medical history that is pertinent, and get more details about your diet, sleep patterns, work habits, and exercise levels. This is the time for you to ask questions too. If you have any concerns or things you’re unclear about, the SteadyMD doctor will give you the time and answers.
During this appointment, the SteadyMD doctor will also be able to order any lab tests, blood work, or other external treatment that is relevant to your current medical issue.
After the first appointment, you can schedule an appointment, send an SMS, or call your doctor whenever you want. What's unique about SteadyMD is that it is an ongoing relationship with the same doctor. Most telehealth services allow you to connect quickly to a doctor, which is great. But there's no continuity or follow-up. With SteadyMD, you meet with the same doctors, have a live connection, and can reach out (via text, phone call, or even video chat) anytime you have a question or concern.
What Does SteadyMD Treat?
SteadyMD offers many specialty treatments in addition to the regular medical conditions its doctors can treat. Here are a few of the less-common services available:
Whole30
Paleo
Functional fitness
Functional medicine
Medicine for athletes (weightlifters, runners, triathletes, cyclists)
SteadyMD Complete
SteadyMD is not useful for medical emergencies, however. In the event of a serious medical situation, contact 911 or go straight to an urgent care unit or emergency room. SteadyMD is also not suitable for certain medications, including narcotics, opioids, and other controlled substances.
How Much Does SteadyMD Cost?
SteadyMD offers a subscription-based pricing model. That means all of your services are covered under a single monthly membership fee. This is a much more affordable option if you have frequent prescription needs, if you visit the doctor more than just once a month, or if you have frequent medical concerns and like having a doctor on call to answer your questions. Here's a look at the pricing plans available:
Price per month
$99
$178
SteadyMD is an affordable option for most people, especially those with frequent medical concerns. If you sign up today, you can save even more with a 50% discount on your first month when you join with an individual plan.
Other telehealth services such as Doctor on Demand, LiveHealth Online, or AmWell charge $59-$75 per visit. This is cheaper than a SteadyMD monthly membership. But if you need to schedule even one follow-up appointment that month, you’ll already be paying much more than you would for a subscription to SteadyMD.
One aspect we don't like is SteadyMD's contract length. When you sign up, you're automatically signed up for the year. You can cancel anytime you want within the first month without penalty, but beyond that month, it is a full-year commitment. We also don't like that you have to pay an additional fee to add more children to your plan. How much you pay depends on the age of each child.
The good news is that most HSA, FSA, MSA, and HRAs cover SteadyMD membership fees. If your health account covers the services, then SteadyMD is an incredible offer.
Does SteadyMD Take Insurance?
SteadyMD works with a wide range of benefit plans, including health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, medical savings accounts, and health reimbursement accounts. Frequently, these accounts will reimburse you for the full membership costs.
What Do People Say About SteadyMD?

"This service is amazing! In a world filled with reactionary medicine, this is precisely the sort of solution I have been looking for to complement my lifestyle. Everybody needs this level of care."- Leslie
“This is an amazing resource for moms and families. If anyone has trouble getting to a doctor and having free time to do that it’s moms. One of the biggest reasons why I love it so much is that it’s just an app on my phone and I can essentially text or talk to my doctor whenever I want.” – Katie
