Lingualia Plans

Lingualia offers both a free and a premium version of its platform. With its free version, you can interact with other members in Lingualia’s online community as much as you want. You can also complete lessons, challenges, practice exercises, and checkpoints within each course. However, the free version requires you to wait 8 hours between completing consecutive lessons within the same course.

If you do not want to wait before you complete the next lesson, you can subscribe to Lingualia’s premium version. In addition to unlimited access to lessons without time limits, premium users can also download PDFs of each lesson. Furthermore, paying for the premium version also enables users to receive a digital diploma upon completing each individual course.

How much does Lingualia cost?

Like some other language apps, Lingualia grants limited access to its content for free. If you don’t wish to pay for the platform, you can still complete lessons and challenges. However, if you complete more than two consecutive lessons in the same course, you’ll have to wait 8 hours before you can complete another lesson.

Users who don’t want to wait can subscribe to Lingualia’s premium version. The price for the premium version starts at $25 per month. That said, you can also pay for a 3-month subscription starting at $15 per month, or a 6-month subscription beginning at $9.95 per month. Lingualia may also offer new users a 50% discount on the 3- and 6-month subscriptions, which, when available, brings the monthly prices to $7.50 per month and $4.98 per month respectively.

Premium users can cancel their subscription at any time, and they will receive a full refund if they cancel within 7 days.

How does Lingualia work?

It's easy to get started using Lingualia. You can sign up for free with an email address or through your Facebook or Google account. At this time, Lingualia only offers lessons focused on learning English or Spanish. Prior to beginning a course, you can complete a language placement test to see which course is the right one for you.

Each course consists of 50 lessons. Lessons are divided into different topics, including vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, dialogue, and audio examples. Throughout each course, users will be expected to complete frequent reviews to check on their progress and determine if they’re ready to proceed to the next section. Although it doesn’t offer speech-recognition exercises, Lingualia does use myriad teaching methods, including audio drills featuring native speakers, writing exercises, and multiple-choice questions.

Lingualia’s AI software keeps track of users’ answers and modifies lessons to help users practice skills that need the most improvement. Language learners can connect with other users to grow their language skills together and comment on each other’s efforts. To motivate its user base, Lingualia publishes a leaderboard showing how much each user is using the platform. In addition to accessing its materials through a browser, you can also download the Lingualia app through the iPhone App Store or Android Play Store.

Is Lingualia reliable and safe?

Currently, neither the Better Business Bureau nor Trustpilot lists any reviews or ratings for Lingualia. On the iPhone App Store, Lingualia has a 4.6 out of 5.0 rating after 111 reviews. Users with positive reviews seem to like the personalized aspect of the platform and find the exercises fun and rewarding. Meanwhile, users who left negative reviews mostly dislike the time limits for free users and complain that the app occasionally crashes.

According to its website, Lingualia secures users’ payment and personal details using 256-bit SSL encryption.

What’s special about Lingualia?

One of the features that sets Lingualia apart from other language-learning platforms is its AI software, Lingu. Lingu keeps track of users’ answers and tracks performance to see how they are progressing. If a particular user needs help in a particular area, Lingu will modify a lesson to help that user improve in areas where they need the most assistance.

Another keep feature of Lingualia is its use of open-ended writing drills. Along with audio, dialogue, reading, and multiple-choice exercises, Lingualia also features open-ended writing prompts where users can practice different skills they’ve learned. Users can then post their essays for other users to view, comment, and correct. That said, any writing that’s posted is not guaranteed to get any reviews or comments, as Lingualia’s online community is not very active.

Help and Support

Regrettably, Lingualia does not offer much in the way of customer service. It does not offer customer support over the phone or via chat. If you need assistance, you can contact Lingualia via secure message through the Contact page on its website.

Lingualia answers some frequently asked questions on its Premium page, but does not feature a designated FAQs landing page. In addition, while it features a blog landing page, the link to the page is broken.

Bottom Line

Lingualia is a great platform for advanced English or Spanish speakers who want to supplement their existing learning with some additional courses. Its AI software is a useful tool that helps identify areas where users can improve. While its free version is limited, it’s a great option for people who want to take their time to slowly learn a new language. Although some of its features are buggy or underdeveloped, it has measures in place to protect user data and offers assurances to paying customers in the form of a 7-day trial period.
