Hosting Types

The World

The World is a unique hosting service offered by PlanetHoster. In effect, The World is VPS (virtual private server) hosting, with the twist that you can host an unlimited number of websites. All your sites are completely isolated from one another and don’t share databases, email addresses, or domains. In addition, you can choose whether each individual site is hosted at PlanetHoster’s Montreal or Paris data center.

The World hosting includes unlimited bandwidth and disk space, and you can also add an unlimited number of email accounts to your sites. You can customize your CPU, RAM, and data transfer limits and scale up or down at any time.

HybridCloud

HybridCloud is a managed cloud service. You choose your CPUs, RAM, and disk space, and PlanetHoster’s team will configure the development environment for your project. The PlanetHoster team will also take care of updating the software on your server and conducting 24/7 monitoring for security threats or potential overloads.

All HybridCloud plans are hosted on Litespeed Enterprise servers with LS Cache, which offers 9 times faster application speeds compared to standard Apache servers.

Uptime and Performance

PlanetHoster claims that it offers 99.999% uptime, although there’s no guarantee to ensure that its servers will perform at this level. Still, PlanetHoster has a reputation for consistent performance.

Website Builder Features

PlanetHoster lets you build a website with platforms like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla!, and Magento. Alternatively, the company’s own website builder is included with all hosting plans.

The PlanetHoster website builder is functional but outdated. You can choose from a few dozen templates, most of which look like they were designed in the early 2000s. The builder offers a number of customizable content elements, but you can’t drag and drop them around the page or easily resize them. While you can add a blog to your website with the builder, there’s no way to build an online storefront.

Email

One of PlanetHoster’s highlights is that you can add an unlimited number of email accounts to your websites. If you have multiple domains, each of them can have as many email accounts as you want. Better yet, there are no limits on inbox storage, and you can easily integrate your accounts with popular email clients like Outlook or Thunderbird.

Control Panel

PlanetHoster offers both cPanel and its own World Panel software to manage your hosting account. Most users will want to opt for cPanel, since World Panel lacks one-click installers for WordPress and doesn’t make it particularly easy to manage your email.

Pricing and Packages

PlanetHoster offers The World Lite, a free hosting package that includes 1 CPU and 750 MB of disk space. The World hosting starts at $7.26 per month (paid semi-annually) for 8 CPUs, 16GB of RAM, and 16Mb/s of data transfer. You can upgrade to a Litespeed server with LS Cache for an additional $2.42 per month.

HybridCloud plans start at $60.49 per month (paid monthly) for 2 CPUs, 4GB of RAM, and 60GB of disk space. The most extensive plan, with 32 CPUs, 128GB of RAM, and 250GB of disk space costs $732.04 per month.

Help and Support

PlanetHoster offers 24/7 customer support by phone and live chat. We connected via live chat and got in touch with an agent in a few minutes. The company also has a detailed online knowledge base, although most tutorials are written in French.

Bottom Line

PlanetHoster is a scalable hosting platform that lets you host 1 or hundreds of websites. With The World hosting, you can set up an unlimited number of sites and manage your computing resources however you see fit. With HybridCloud, you get to choose what resources you need and PlanetHoster’s team takes care of configuration, updates, and security. Overall, PlanetHoster is a good option if you want to host multiple websites and want the freedom to scale up or down over time.
