Tempo Workout Mirror Review
Workout mirrors and smart home gym systems have become all the rage in recent years, as they provide real-time feedback, progress tracking, and access to personal trainers and huge workout libraries. Tempo offers two different systems, which we’ve outlined below.
Tempo Move Review
The Tempo Move is Tempo’s cheapest package, coming in at just $495 (discounted to $395 at the time of writing). It includes 2x7.5lb dumbbells, 35lbs of smart weights, 4 weight collars, and the Tempo Core device.
However, you will need your own television and an iPhone to use the Tempo Move system. Your iPhone needs to be docked with the Tempo Core device to enable workout tracking and most of the system’s other features.
You will be able to access all of Tempo’s workouts and other tools with a monthly membership. The Move system is compatible with the Tempo heart rate monitor and the Apple Watch, enabling you to track your workouts.
Tempo Studio Review
The Tempo Studio system is much the same as the Tempo Move package, except it comes with a freestanding workout mirror. Prices start at $2,495 (discounted to $1,995 at the time of writing) for a basic package, ranging to $3,995 for the most advanced package.
The main Tempo Studio hardware is free-standing, unlike many competitor devices that need to be attached to a wall. It sits at 6’ high, 2’2” wide, and 1’4” deep. Included are advanced 3D motion and performance tracking technology along with 60w stereo speakers and Bluetooth connectivity.
The cheapest package, Starter, comes with a workout mat, 2x7.5lb dumbbells, and 75lbs of weight plates. Upgrading to the Plus package adds a 25lb barbell, heart rate monitor, recovery roller, folding bench, and 2x25lb competition plates. The Pro package adds even more, including a folding squat rack, a kettlebell system, weight plate storage, and 2x45lb competition plates.
Tempo Training App
The Tempo Fit app is available on both iOS and Android devices. It’s free to download, and it integrates with the Tempo system to track your progress and provide personalized recommendations.
In addition, the Tempo Fit app can be used to plan your upcoming workouts and to view the entire Tempo content library. You can create goal-oriented programs to help you build muscle, lose weight, or achieve any of numerous other targets. You can even use the app to perform workouts on the go without the need for any other equipment.
Pricing & Special Offers
The Tempo fitness center can be purchased online or in store from more than 100 locations. There are two Tempo stores located in Bellevue and New York. The company partners with Best Buy and various other locations to make its products available in stores across the United States. You can also book a virtual demo to test the product without having to view in store.
The most basic Tempo Move package comes in at $495 (discounted to $395 at the time of writing), but this requires you to have your own TV and iPhone. The more advanced Tempo Studio starts at $2,495 for a Starter package. The Plus package comes in at $3,245, while a Pro package will cost you $3,995. At the time of writing, there was an automatic $500 discount applied to all Studio orders.
You will require a Tempo membership to take advantage of the full range of features, costing $39 per month. All in all, these prices put Tempo on the high side compared to its competitors, but you do get what you pay for.
Shipping costs vary according to your location, but you can expect to pay at least $150 for standard shipping. White Glove shipping is also available at an extra cost, and it includes in-home assembly by a member of the Tempo team.
Tempo Payment Options
If you purchase online, you can pay for your new Tempo fitness studio with a credit/debit card, PayPal, Amazon Pay, or with a payment plan through Affirm. Interest-free payment plans are available for qualifying customers, and plans range from 12 months to 48 months in duration.
A 3-year limited warranty is included with all purchases, covering defects and malfunctions. However, a close look at the fine print reveals that the 3-year period only applies to select components and that most of the system actually falls under a 12-month warranty term.
A full 30-day money-back guarantee is available with all purchases. If you’re returning a device due to a warranty claim, Tempo will pay for your shipping. But if you’re returning a device because you’re simply not happy with it, you could be charged up to $350 return postage. To request a return, reach out to the customer service team.
Service and Support
The only ways to contact the Tempo customer service team are via phone or by filling in an online contact form. Responses can be slow. The company claims that 24/7 live chat is available, but we were unable to access it.
A decent selection of self-help resources is available, including a large FAQ page. However, many of these are quite basic, so don’t expect in-depth tutorials or detailed user guides.
The Tempo smart fitness system is one of the best we’ve seen. Its prices are a little high, but you really get what you pay for. You will benefit from live and on-demand workouts, advanced progress tracking, and an excellent mobile app.
Ultimately, Tempo is an excellent choice for everyone from beginners to fitness gurus—as long as you can afford it.
