In a Nutshell

Photoleap is a freemium-priced, beginner-friendly mobile photo editor. Its AI tools let you effortlessly transform your photos and its advanced editing options could suit experienced pros. The speed and quality of tools like object removal and AI room re-design are impressive. However, pricing options could be more transparent. Overall, the yearly-billed plan is worth it for removing watermarks and accessing all AI and editing tools.

How Much Does Photoleap Cost?

Photoleap is available on a freemium basis—some tools are free, but accessing all features costs $3.33/month when billed yearly at $39.99, or $6.99/month when billed monthly. I was only offered monthly billing when attempting to cancel the yearly-billed plan.

The $3.33/month price is very competitive, especially as it includes advanced AI editing. There’s a seven-day free trial, but you must cancel it at least 48 hours before it expires if you don’t want to start the premium plan.

The free plan is generous, including editing tools like cropping, background change, and AI filters. However, the premium plan grants access to the full AI and editing tools collection and lets you remove watermarks and save photos in PNG (on top of the JPEG option allowed for free).

While Photoleap Premium isn’t aimed at professional photo editors, it could suit content creators wanting quick, quality images.

How Does Photoleap Work?

The signup process is easy. Create an account using your email or your Google or Facebook profile. You can start your free trial by adding credit card details (or your PayPal or Google Pay account) and then download the Photoleap app to your phone.

Features are neatly categorized, but I was a bit overwhelmed by the large number of tools.

When you start using a tool, you either give the app permission to access your entire library or add specific photos you want to work on.

Overall, the editing and AI tools are easy to use. Handy features allow you to adjust contrast and exposure, remove blemishes and objects, enhance overall photo quality, and create multi-photo collages.

Using AI filters, you can turn any photo into a themed cartoon, transpose your selfie onto a stylized headshot, re-design a room, and more. Other easy-to-use AI tools enable you to replace photo backgrounds and create brand-new images using AI text-to-image.

Is Photoleap Reliable and Safe?

Photoleap’s parent company Lightricks was founded in 2013 and is incorporated in Israel. In my first-hand experiments with Photoleap, I found the editing and AI tools reliable and high-quality.

That said, some users have complained about difficulties canceling subscriptions, contributing to its score of only two out of five stars score on Trustpilot. I had trouble finding a cancelation button. However, the app averages 4.4 out of five stars on Google Play. It also has 4.7 out of five on the App Store, with a majority of five-star reviews.

Photoleap has been downloaded 10+ million times on Google Play and is among the top 20 App Store apps in the photo and video category.

Help and Support

It was easy to contact Photoleap customer support. You simply click “Contact us” in the app and scroll down to “Submit a request.” Then, provide your email address, select a topic, fill in the subject line, and write a description of your issue. The support team promises to answer “as soon as possible.”

You can also email the team—I received a reply to my query in minutes. However, there’s no phone or live chat support.

The website also lists a few FAQs in the help center and offers instructional blog articles.

Bottom Line

Photoleap is an AI photo editor that’s worth its salt. I was struck by the wide variety of easy-to-use editing tools and the high quality of AI-transformed images. The text-to-image AI tool produced decent results, too.

While Photoleap has gathered thousands of five-star reviews, some users have complained about the difficulty of canceling premium plans. I also thought the pricing options could be more transparent. However, the paid plan is worth investing in if you’re a professional editor or avid photo sharer.
