Patrick Sather

In a Nutshell

For 8 years, Harmony Home Warranty provided home warranty coverage to homeowners nationwide. However, over the past few months, the Brooklyn, New York based company has ceased operations. Through our research and attempts to contact the company, we uncovered the following information.

pros

cons

  • Not enough pricing info published on site
  • No live chat support option

On May 11, 2021, the Better Business Bureau’s Board of Directors revoked Harmony’s accreditation due to its failure to meet the BBB’s standards for accredited businesses. These standards include the requirement to “address disputes forwarded by BBB quickly and in good faith,” and to “provide a response to each complaint that

  • Is professional
  • Addresses all significant issues raised by the complainant
  • Includes appropriate evidence and documents supporting the business' position
  • Explains why any relief sought by the complainant cannot or should not be granted.

Along with revoking its accreditation, the BBB also downgraded Harmony’s rating to an “F,” signifying that the company is in the lowest tier of reputable companies.

In addition, on May 14, 2021, the CA Department of Insurance issued a Cease and Desist Order to Forever Home Service LLC d/b/a Harmony Home Warranty for unlicensed activity. While the case is ongoing, the brief alleges that Harmony sold home warranty contracts in California without the proper authorization from the Commissioner of the Department of Insurance. After receiving multiple complaints from customers who bought contracts from Harmony, the Department launched an investigation into Harmony.

Its investigation uncovered evidence that Harmony solicited businesses through its website www.harmonyhomewarranty.com, where it collected customers’ personal information and payment details. However, multiple customers report that Harmony failed to pay claims or ignored service requests. Furthermore, Harmony locked customers out of their online accounts, forcing them to pay for repairs out of pocket.

For our review, we attempted to contact Harmony, but to no avail. Its website is unresponsive, with every button either broken or linking to the customer login portal. In addition, all of its registered phone numbers are out of service. As of now, there is no sign that Harmony will continue to solicit new business, and prospective customers should be aware of the pending legal issues it’s facing.
