What’s Covered by Your Pet Insurance Policy
Complete Coverage includes exams, diagnostics, and treatments, including alternative therapies for accidents, illnesses, cancer, hereditary conditions, behavioral issues, and dental disease. Coverage is available for the most advanced treatments, like chemotherapy and surgery, and some you may not expect, such as stem cell therapy and acupuncture.
You can choose your reimbursement percentage with options of 70%, 80%, or 90%. If you select the recommended 90% option, you would get reimbursed 90% of all covered costs after you met your annual deductible.
You can add preventive care coverage to your plan for a low additional monthly cost. There are several options, which have a list of covered services that can include annual exams, vaccines, yearly dental cleanings, heartworm/flea prevention, and more. You get reimbursed a set amount for each service.
You can also choose accident-only coverage if you only want to get reimbursed for injuries.
Limits and Deductibles
Complete Coverage does not have lifetime or per incident limits. However, it does have an annual limit. You can pick your annual limit with choices from $5,000 to unlimited. If you reach this amount during your plan year, you will no longer be eligible for reimbursements until it resets. It resets each year on the date your plan is re-issued.
You can also select your annual deductible with options of $100, $250, or $500. Some providers have a per incident deductible that needs to be met every time your pet has incident, but ASPCA’s yearly deductible only needs to be met once
There is no annual limit or deductible for preventive care coverage.
Value for Money
Because Complete Coverage offers such comprehensive coverage, it can come at a higher price. However, you can adjust your premium by customizing your coverage. For instance, choosing different annual deductible or reimbursement amounts can change your monthly premium.
All cats and dogs 8 weeks old and up are eligible for coverage. There are no upper age limits so older pets are eligible for coverage too.
The Fine Print: What’s Excluded
Complete Coverage does not cover pre-existing conditions.
However, an injury or illness that is cured and free of treatment and symptoms for 180 days will no longer be regarded as pre-existing. It also does not cover elective procedures, such as tail docking, ear cropping, and claw removal or the costs associated with breeding or pregnancy.
Complete Coverage is an excellent choice for individuals who want more comprehensive coverage for their four-legged family member with the flexibility to customize their plan. It offers coverage for behavioral treatment and dental work, as well as hereditary and congenital conditions with adjustable monthly premiums based on deductible and reimbursement amounts.
